Rini Tiger

Rini Tiger is the daughter of acclaimed artist Kunmanarra (Tiger) Palpatja (deceased) who was recognised for his detailed paintings of Wanampi – water snake dreaming.

She has custodianship of sections of the Ngintaka Tjukurpa through both her father and husband Sammy Lyons who is the son of Ngnyinytja and Ilyatjari.

Her selection of colours is typical of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara/Yankunyjatjara APY lands but in particular her precise dotting style is unique to her way of expressing the dreamtime stories recognised by collectors worldwide. Rini has a distinct style detailing the dreamtime story of Ngintaka.

Ngintaka is the Pitjantjatjara Aboriginal word used to explain a giant Perente lizard spirit being of Australian Aboriginal “Dreamimg” Creation mythology
