Joylene is photographed at the Glenelg ArtGallery
with her painting “Collecting Wild Berries”
Joylene tells us the story, -
Today the ladies meet to gather up for a day
out bush. They are planning to look for
wild berries. They are happy as they have collected lots of the wild berries, of different types of fruit, in many colours.
In Aboriginal Culture, the women gather natural bush foods together that are shared with the Community. It is an important way of passing down the knowledge form the older to younger women, of where to find food, and prepare it.
