English born artist, Jacky Murtaughs work, celebrates colour and pattern found in the natural landscape. Her vibrant and richly coloured paintings in oil and acrylic reveal the delicate patterns and rhythm of nature which can be seen in the gentle sway of the ocean, the bark of a tree or dappled light on water. She captures the fleeting moments and a sense of the ephemeral.
Currently based in Adelaide, Murtaugh is inspired by local landscapes including Port Willunga, Henley Beach, Largs and Grange. In her seascapes Murtaugh is drawn to the infinite colour and shape of reflections in the water. Her strong use of colour offers a unique perspective on a traditional landscape and an insight to the emotional response from the artist
