PETER SCHUITEMAKER
Peter has been studying towards a Bachelor of Visual Art and Design at the Adelaide College of the Arts since 2009 as a Part Time student. His major is Sculptor. Peter has a love of all things metal, especially copper and brass. He uses materials salvaged from antique and op shops, and fashions pieces which have a story to tell.
'CORNELIS SCHUITEMAKER, WORN OUT"
This is a life size sculpture of an old farmer sitting bent forward, with head in hands. It is made mainly of recycled copper.
He is Peter's response to Vincent Van Gogh’s 1881 drawing of an old Boer (a Dutch farmer) titled ‘Worn Out’.
The model he used for this drawing was Cornelis Schuitemaker, who is Peter's cousin, six times removed.
